In the four seasons orchard of Dongkeng Town, the flower bud germination of many varieties of litchi such as glutinous rice cake and Feizixiao was rapid. The flowering rate of litchi trees in Zhangmuou Town is over 90%, among which the flowering rate of Guanyin green and old tree glutinous rice is above 90%, and it is expected that the blooming period will enter in mid-late March.

Guangzhou Nansha District, more than 80% of the litchi varieties for laurel flavor, this year to the flower rate of almost 100%, the newly introduced ice lai has also been smooth to flower. Looking back on 2024, Guangdong litchi encountered a "small year". Affected by the warm winter of 2023 and more rain since the spring of 2024, the national litchi production reduction of 45%, Guangdong litchi production reduction is more than 50%. According to monitoring analysis, from July 2023, when litchi was picked, to February 2024, the cumulative precipitation in Guangdong was 20.6% higher than that in the same period of the year. Although lychee is in good condition this year, there are still many uncertain factors in the future weather for lychee production. The growth of litchi requires suitable temperature, moisture and light conditions. The recent weather forecast shows that the rainfall in some areas of Guangdong continues to be less, which is not conducive to the growth of lychee flowers, and may cause slow flower spike growth, delayed flowering time, pollination and fertilization obstacles, and then lead to lower fruit setting rate. Moreover, less rain weather is also easy to cause diseases and pests, threatening the healthy growth of litchi trees. If the critical period of lychee growth, such as flowering, fruiting period encountered strong convection weather, such as heavy rain, strong wind, will directly affect the yield and quality of lychee.
