Export scale: China's vegetable export scale continues to expand. Both the export volume and the export value showed an upward trend. For example, from 2010 to 2015, the export volume increased from 655,000 tons to 10.1872 million tons, an increase of 55.53%; Exports increased from $9,950 million to $13,270 million, an average annual increase of 6.67 percent.
Export varieties: China's vegetable exports are diverse, mainly including pickled vegetables, fresh or refrigerated vegetables, mixed vegetables, frozen vegetables, dried vegetables and processed preserved vegetables. Among them, the export volume of fresh and frozen vegetables was the largest, accounting for 64.15% of the total export volume.
Export regions: China's vegetable export regions are extensive, including the United States, Japan, the European Union and other developed countries and regions. Shandong Province is China's largest vegetable exporter, ranking first in the country.
International market share: Although the share of Chinese vegetables in the international market is not high, it shows a trend of increasing year by year. For example, the international market share of Shandong's vegetable industry increased from 1.66 percent in 2009 to 2.11 percent in 2014.
Export enterprises: There are a large number of Chinese vegetable export enterprises, but the scale is generally small. Shandong Province has 3,513 vegetable export enterprises, and the development of these enterprises tends to "regional integration" and "industrial cluster".
The main problems facing China's vegetable export include foreign technical trade barriers, vegetable quarantine requirements and restrictive barriers in different export countries. In addition, some enterprises lack the ability to adapt to changes in the international market, and lack brand advantages and technological advantages.
To sum up, the current situation of China's vegetable exports is good, but there is still room for improvement. In the future, China's vegetable exports need to strengthen brand building and technological innovation, improve product quality and added value, in order to cope with international market changes and challenges.
