Define Variety, Color, Brix and Maturity Together

Specify Kernel Integrity, Cob, Husk and Silk Before Price

Whole-kernel quality is shaped by raw material maturity, cutting depth, washing, separation, dewatering, freezing and handling. Cutting too shallow can leave pulled kernels with hard tissue at the base. Cutting too deep can introduce cob material. Rough frozen handling raises breakage. Weak desilking or separation leaves silk, husk and vegetable fragments in the finished lot.

Write the categories separately. Broken, crushed or ragged kernels are not the same as pulled kernels. Loose skins affect appearance and mouthfeel but should not disappear inside the breakage number. Run the final application before approval. Corn that tastes good after a short boil may become tough after microwave reheating or lose color during hot holding. A factory should assess formula yield, water release and kernel survival. A private-label team should check the actual pack direction. Bulk, Foodservice and Private Label Need Different Offers

Industrial bulk usually prioritizes cost per usable kilogram, liner integrity, carton strength and a grade matched to the production process. A common reference is one 10 kg food-grade liner in a corrugated carton, while 20 lb, 30 lb, 40 lb and 20 kg formats may be used for specific markets. Confirm whether the quoted weight is net product weight, whether glaze is absent, and how carton gross weight affects payload.

Foodservice packing can use four 2.5 kg bags or two 5 kg bags inside a carton. Smaller inner bags protect the unused balance and improve kitchen portioning, but they add film, sealing and labor. Ask whether the inner bags are labeled, plain or printed and whether the carton mark carries all traceability information required by the distributor.

Private-label retail may use 500 g, 1 kg, 2 lb or another approved pack. The corn price is only one line. Printed film cylinders, artwork proofing, barcode, nutrition panel, ingredient and cooking statements, language, date code, case label, carton design and retail-pack inspection all add lead time and cost. Confirm who owns the artwork, which party verifies local labeling, how unused printed film is handled and whether the first order can meet the film converter's MOQ.

Plan Frozen Corn MOQ and Mixed Containers Honestly

MOQ is not one fixed number for every corn program. It is driven by available stock, production campaign, grade, packing material, print setup, carton, testing, warehouse handling and container plan. A supplier may accept a smaller quantity of standard bulk from stock but require a larger run for a named variety, higher-Brix crop, special testing or new printed film.

"Available all year" usually means frozen inventory can support year-round shipment; it does not mean fresh raw material is harvested every month. Ask whether the quote is based on new crop, existing frozen stock or a future production reservation.

Crop timing matters when a buyer needs a narrow Brix band, named variety, white or bicolor corn, organic status or a large annual program. Share a rolling forecast before the season so the supplier can plan raw material and production capacity. If you wait until the stock is nearly exhausted, the only available offer may be a different color, Brix or grade.

The current public production reference is 15–20 days for a normal program and 25–35 days where new printed film is required. The clock should be defined. Ask whether lead time begins after deposit, signed specification, approved sample, artwork approval, packaging arrival, test-result release or another milestone. Even two FOB quotes may use different Chinese loading ports or different inclusions.

Create a landed comparison by accepted kilogram, not only quoted metric ton. Not every frozen corn shipment needs the same certificate. Plan the 20-Foot or 40-Foot Reefer From Carton Data

Choose the reefer after confirming carton dimensions, gross weight, pallet format and total order. The current GreenLand corn reference lists 10–12 metric tons for a 20-foot reefer and 22–24 metric tons for a 40-foot high-cube reefer. Those are loading references, not guaranteed capacities. Pallets reduce available cube, carton sizes change the pattern, equipment tare and payload vary, and road or port weight limits may control the final quantity.

A 20-foot reefer can suit a smaller first shipment or a concentrated single-SKU order, but calculate freight and handling per delivered ton. A 40-foot high-cube reefer usually offers a larger program more space and a better chance to spread fixed logistics cost, yet it also increases inventory exposure and claim value. The right decision balances volume, sell-through, cold-store capacity, product mix, cash cycle and confirmed equipment.

Request a packing-list simulation before booking. It should show cartons, net and gross cargo weight, pallets if used, pallet dimensions, loading pattern and remaining space. Confirm the carrier's actual reefer equipment and CSC plate rather than copying a generic internet payload. State the reefer set point, ventilation or other settings where relevant, loading-temperature requirement, pre-trip inspection responsibility, pallet or floor loading, data logger, container number, seal number and loading-photo requirement.

Keep airflow paths clear and load hard-frozen product. A reefer is designed to maintain cargo temperature; it should not be treated as a blast freezer for warm cartons. Define how long product may remain outside frozen storage, who checks product temperature, where any logger is placed and what evidence is sent after loading. At destination, the receiving team should record seal, carton condition, lot codes and product temperature before the stock disappears into normal warehouse inventory.
