A Procurement Specification, Not Just "Frozen Pumpkin"
The phrase frozen cubed pumpkin can describe very different products. A 10 mm peeled dice for sauce production is not interchangeable with a 30 mm skin-on chunk for roasting. A mature, high-dry-matter pumpkin behaves differently from a watery crop after thawing or cooking. Blanched material also has a different texture and process history from a plain raw IQF program. We therefore separate these variables at quotation stage and carry them through the approved specification, production record, packing list and lot documents.

Cube Sizes, Tolerances and Cut Programs
Our normal starting sizes are listed below. A size is controlled by the nominal dimension, the allowed deviation and the proportion of pieces that must fall inside that range. This is more useful than a size name alone. For example, the standard 10 mm program is 10 × 10 × 10 mm with ±2 mm dimensional tolerance and at least 90% in-range pieces for Grade A. Premium raises conformity to at least 95%.

The purchase specification may use piece count, screen analysis or three-axis measurement. Final tolerance and conformity are tied to the selected variety, cut and grade rather than assumed from the product name.
Variety, Maturity, Brix and Dry-Matter Programs
Pumpkin variety and harvest maturity affect sweetness, orange color, fibrousness, moisture release and cooked texture. We can contract Cucurbita moschata, Cucurbita maxima, Miben-type, butternut-type or kabocha-type material where the program and crop availability support it. We do not mix variety types in a lot unless the buyer specification permits it.

Natural pH commonly falls within 4.8–6.8. Brix, pH, moisture and dry matter are reported as analytical values only when included in the ordered COA panel. The COA "Actual Result" is the measurement from the released production lot, not a copy of the specification limit.
Skin-on pumpkin chunks are a separate visual and specification option; they are not substituted for the standard peeled cube program.
Grade A and Premium Visual Limits
A usable grade table must tell an inspector what to count. The limits below are our commercial starting points for peeled frozen pumpkin cubes. A signed customer specification can tighten individual items for a critical application. Percentages are by weight unless another method is stated.

Process Flow and In-Process Controls
We manage pumpkin as a specification-driven frozen ingredient. The normal flow is raw-material intake, washing, opening and seed removal, peeling, trimming, calibrated cutting, optional blanching, cooling and dewatering, IQF freezing, visual sorting, metal detection, packing and frozen storage. A blanched program is identified separately because blanching time and temperature change texture, enzyme activity and cooking behavior.

Microbiological and Chemical Starting Limits
The following panel is a practical starting specification for an industrial IQF pumpkin program. Destination law, intended use and customer policy can require a different sampling plan or tighter limit. We state a limit as a specification requirement and place the measured batch value in a separate COA "Actual Result" column.

Heavy Metals
For an EU-oriented starting specification on the edible wet-weight portion, we use lead (Pb) ≤0.05 mg/kg and cadmium (Cd) ≤0.02 mg/kg. The ordered destination and legal product classification govern the release requirement.
Pesticide Residues
Residues must comply with the maximum residue levels of the destination market. For EU supply, the applicable active-substance MRL is used; where EU legislation sets no specific value, the general default of 0.01 mg/kg applies.
Foreign-Material Control
The program includes visual sorting and metal detection. Magnet, X-ray or additional sieving can be written into a customer control plan where the pack format and line configuration support them.
What the Batch COA Can Show
We separate the contractual limit from the laboratory or inspection result. The specification column tells the acceptance rule; the Actual Result column records the value measured or observed for that production lot. This prevents a limit such as "Brix 6–10 °Bx" from being presented as though every batch measured the same value.

Packaging, MOQ, Lead Time and Reefer Loading
We support industrial bulk, foodservice and retail/private-label formats. Net weight, bag dimensions, film structure, carton strength, case marking, barcode, language and pallet pattern are stated in the packing specification. Printed retail film needs artwork, cylinder or plate preparation and a longer material schedule than a plain bulk bag.

1 × 10 kg, 4 × 2.5 kg and 10 × 1 kg per carton. Other industrial packs include 20 lb, 40 lb and 20 kg where the handling system permits.

Traceability, Change Control and Cold-Chain Records
Each production lot is linked to the supplying crop or intake record, processing date, line or shift, packaging material batch and finished-goods lot code. The carton and inner bag carry the agreed product name, size, net weight, production date, best-before date, lot code, storage statement, origin and destination-required marks. We can map customer codes to our internal lot code for recall and document retrieval.

Changes that can affect the buyer's finished product-such as variety type, production site, raw versus blanched process, nominal cut, ingredient statement, primary packaging or agreed analytical method-are managed through the commercial specification and order record. This prevents an operational substitution from silently changing cooking behavior or label content.
Sample Evaluation and Lot Release Plan
A frozen sample is useful only when it is evaluated in the same way the buyer will use the commercial product. We identify the sample cut, variety or variety type, raw or blanched process, production lot, pack date and storage condition. For an industrial trial, we recommend weighing the frozen input, recording loose ice, cooking from the intended starting condition, using the planned time and temperature, and measuring the finished yield. The buyer can then compare color, flavor, fibre, softness, piece integrity and moisture release against the finished-product target.

For routine lot release, we inspect identity, pack condition, labeling, temperature, net weight, sensory condition, cut conformity and listed visual defects. Microbiological results are released under the ordered panel and sampling plan. Heavy metals and multi-residue screening can operate on an agreed periodic risk schedule or on every shipment where the buyer program requires it. A retained sample and the linked production records support later investigation if the destination inspection finds a difference.

1. What is the difference between frozen cubed pumpkin and frozen pumpkin chunks?
Cubed pumpkin is cut to a nominal three-dimensional size with a stated tolerance and in-range percentage. Chunks use a wider screened size band, such as 20–40 mm, and are better for puree or rustic applications where precision geometry is less important.
2. Which frozen pumpkin cube sizes can you supply?
Our starting range is 6, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 mm cubes. The core options are 10 mm ±2 mm and 20 mm ±3 mm. We also quote irregular 20–40 mm chunks separately.
3. Is the pumpkin peeled and seedless?
The standard cubed SKU is peeled with seeds and stringy cavity tissue removed. We state separate limits for remaining rind and cavity fibre. Skin-on chunks are a different product option and are labeled and quoted as such.
4. Do you supply raw IQF or blanched pumpkin cubes?

5. What Brix level is available?
Our general starting range is 6–10 °Bx. A selected sweet or higher-solids crop program can target 8–12 °Bx. The batch COA reports the actual measured value when Brix is included in the ordered panel.
6. Can you control moisture and dry matter?
Yes. The standard program starts at moisture ≤92% and dry matter ≥8%. For puree yield, bakery filling or roasting, the selected program starts at moisture ≤90% and dry matter ≥10%.
7. Which grade is suitable for visible ready-meal pieces?
Premium is the stronger starting point when visible uniformity is important: at least 95% size conformity, total visual defects ≤3%, broken pieces ≤3%, rind ≤0.5% and discoloration ≤1%. Grade A is suitable where ≥90% size conformity and ≤5% total defects fit the recipe.
8. How do you control clumps and loose ice?
IQF processing supports piece separation, followed by frozen inspection and controlled packing. Starting limits are ≤2% non-separable clumps and ≤2% loose ice for Grade A; Premium tightens both to ≤1%.
9. What microbiological values can appear on the COA?
A full starting panel includes total plate count, Enterobacteriaceae, coliforms, E. coli, yeast, mould, S. aureus, Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. The ordered panel and sampling frequency are stated before production.
10. Do you provide pesticide-residue and heavy-metal reports?
Yes, these can be included in the risk-based periodic program or ordered lot documentation. For EU-oriented supply, our starting limits include Pb ≤0.05 mg/kg and Cd ≤0.02 mg/kg, with pesticide residues assessed against the applicable EU MRLs.
11. What bulk and private-label pack sizes are available?
Bulk and foodservice options include 1 × 10 kg, 4 × 2.5 kg and 10 × 1 kg cartons. Retail formats include 300 g, 400 g, 500 g, 750 g and 1 kg bags with agreed film, artwork, case count and labeling.
12. What is the MOQ for frozen pumpkin cubes?
The normal starting MOQ is 10–12 MT for one standard bulk SKU and from 15 MT for a new private-label pack. Mixed reefer loads can start from 3–5 MT per compatible SKU when production and loading plans align.
13. How much can load in a reefer container?
A working guide is 10–12 MT in a 20-foot reefer and 22–25 MT in a 40-foot high-cube reefer. The final payload is calculated from the selected bag, carton, pallet plan and route restrictions.
